After a quick breakfast of Kerala "Puttu" paired with white chickpeas, made with coconut and aromatic spices, ground in a mixer that once travelled from India, we set off to visit our neighboring town - Delft.
Delft was peaceful. In some alleys so quiet, I wondered how life unfolds here without the familiar humdrum of daily human activity, so central to our existence as social beings. Yet it was beautiful. The day was as sunny as far as tourists' wishes go. We visited some small shops with blue pottery that originated from Delft. Bought a pair of kitchen tiles for our home. Painted on them were fat little sheep and long necked swans.
We sat in the old town centre with a drink and light food. Somewhere along the way, we split- I chased a flock of ducks, while he hid, hoping to surprise me on my return. The plan flopped; I lingered too long behind the ducks. Old town centre brought a horse carriage man displaying his tour of the town on a pair of horses, interesting as it may have seemed, we decided to use our legs instead. Lunch time slowly crept into our stomachs and then our minds, prompting the car to be taken out of its parking spot back home.
On the way home, we stopped at Gamma , a home refurbishment store, as hubby had seen a plant we could consider buying, 12 euros for a 3 foot long indoor plant. We were, after all, on the hunt to decorate our home. Plant in our car, we resumed the drive back home to a lunch half cooked in the morning.
Evening saw us pick up painting, "modern art, it is easy, let us do it together" I said, and off we went picking up our respective brushes. Turns out it was easy, and thus hung a small painting beside our kitchen pantry wall, decorating a small white space that no one had noticed before.
